Hey everyone.

I've got a '70 bronco with the stock 302 block, 3-speed and t-case. I've thought about swapping in some type of later model t-case with push button shift on the fly. The BW 1356 from a late model bronco for example. Anybody ever hear anything like that? What might be the issues (tunnel clearance, needed drive train, etc.) Am I out of my mind for even thinking about it? I've got relatively modest mechanical skills and experience too.

Thanks.

I have thought of it. I am getting tired of walking in the mud and snow too flip the swtich on the axles, I have heard that option is not as strong

???? I dont like too drive with the axles running (the front shafts engaged), the steering is tough even if not in gear(4 wheel drive)

Thanks BBB.

My early bronco is going to spend 90% of its time on the highway. The other 10% will be mild trail riding. I'm with you, I don't want to have to work too hard to change from 2W to 4W. Specially here in the rain (and occasional snow) in Oregon. What do you think the major challenges to the swap are?

I miss spoke, sorry, If you want too be able too auto inguage 4 wheel drive you need a lot of things.

I was talking about the front hub inguagement at the wheel, I dont like too run the front hubs locked(inguaged) because it makes the steering tough on my rig and when I need it I go out in the rain and snow and mud and twist the hubs too lock the front axles too the wheel.

Sometimes when it is variable conditions, mud too snow and water, I leave the hubs locked and with the twin sticks I can with the clutch in at low speeds shift the front axle into the running position, into gear.

Running the front driveshaft and thus the axles cost mpg and wear and tear on the front axle

I thought you had a front axle upgrade that could auto inguage the hubs as well as put the rig in 4 wheel drive.

I was wondering if some of you have had and electric shift transfer case, converted to a unit change manual transmission would have the old controller and wiring. I think the unit I have is the 95-96 version of the plug is square outside round inside and 10 pins, 9 and 1 of the circle in the middle.
