ok, so i have a 94 bronco xlt. all stock. i'm wanting to jack it up with an 8 in suspension lift, but i don't know what exactly to look for. what else will i need to make sure she runs good, and how much will all this cost me?

i don't need top of the line stuff and blow all my cash, but i want to make sure its a good lift and all.

recomendations?

i guess the first question would be what size of tires you are planning on running

this will have an effect on regearing the diffs

also are you planning on doing a ttb lift on the truck or a sas? (ttb=twin traction beam, what comes under the truck stock sas=solid axle swap)

also what type of offroading are you wanting to do with the truck (technical trail rides, straight mud)

will the truck be a daily driver?

the truck is a working project, its a daily driver now but the more i do to it the less she'll be a daily driver. i'll do alot of mudding but some of the spots are miles down some trails.

tires are currently 33's but i will eventually go as large as an 8 in lift will let me, maybe some day adding a body lift to.

idk what will be better a sas or ttb?

if you plan on driving it out to the trail after every run you'll have to get an aligment done and it's not cheap with the ttb

however the SAS is going to require a fair bit of funds and some fab work

i wheeled 37" tires on the ttb front end with 6" susp and 3" body for almost 2 years

it can be done, but there's factors that you have to take into account doing that as well

gearing being the biggest one. if i had regeard i probably would have got more life out of my tranny, but it also allowed me to put the ZF (5 speed manual) into the truck. that also helped considerably considerin the gearing is so much lower in the ZF.

I can get a set of 38's really cheap, can I run them on a 6inch lift without the body lift?

krafty you're gonna have to trim fenders if you run the 6" lift and 38's ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

and hockeyfreak the list is never ending for what you can do with the truck. just depends on your budget and time

answer to your riddle, sure they all may fit, but do you drive the truck up and down the road only. once a vehicle is flexed it will move into fender thus hindering your flex

so run them that way if you like, but don't expect the truck to actually perform :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

it'll just look big

how much flex does a truck really need when pounding a mud hole?

If I ruin my fenders you can say "I Told You So"

38's are too big for a 6 inch lift. Go on superford.org and look through a bunch of pictures for research. Will answer all your questions and disbeliefs. Not only will it destroy your fenders it will also cut the sidewalls of your tires which is very counter productive. Miss Kitten had a sweet Bronco with 9 inches of lift to clear 37's trust what she tells ya.

what size tires do you want to look at? 35's on 6 inch? Thats most common or 33's on 3 inch. 38's are usually at least 9 inches. Ill have a look for a few of them

alright you win, i'll buy 35's

Im not doing the lift and tires until after winter cause 12.5 inches of tire on ice is never a good idea, UNlesss......

naw nevermind. I have a setup to advertise for the company I work for so they pay for the lift and I pay for the tires.
