My uncle has a 95 ford. It was working fine this morning, but all of a sudden, the truck wouldnt start. He then disconnected the battery and cleaned the little knobs on top of it with a silver thing. When he tried to start the car it made a chirp sound, but almost started and after that, the alarm began to start. We looked at the fuse and tried the corresponding one and others too..everything but that didnt help. Every time he connected the battery, the alarm would go off. How do we stop this? =\

Depends on the Alarm. Most of them have a button under the dash somewhere that requires you to turn the key on, and hold it for thirty seconds, turning into sleep mode. If you no longer want the system, take off the under covers, and find the box. (its 90% of the time blatently obvious), start cutting the wires that run from the alarm module to the factory harness. Then reconnect the wires that were put in by ford with solder or a good heat shrink connector, and forget it ever existed. Anyone with any knowldedge of cars can bypass those stupid things in less than 10 seconds, so get rid of it. Its more trouble than its worth.

50joe,

Thanks for the tip, I have had the same issue with mine, crappy connections, and the truck wouldn't start. Pulled the cables to clean them and then the alarm was set, and it wouldn't start. I had to move it, so I jumped 12 volts to the trigger of the fender mounted starter relay, all the while the alarm was blaring. The truck started, I moved it, and then disconected the battery until I came back with the alarm remote (two days later) and wouldn't you know... the battery to the remote was dead! Urrgh!!! When I put a fresh battery in the remote, and turned off the alarm everything was back to normal, but now I make sure that I bring the set of keys that has that big remote attached to them when I will be using the bronco.

Mine has a push button AND a switch. Neither my son, nor I were ever able to figure it out, no wthat you say hold it for 30 seconds, I am sure that we never did that, so perhaps I'll try that today if it isn't too cold out. DO you have any idea what the switch is for? My alarm has the remote start too, that's actually a nice feature.

yo gang.

Post up the Alarm's MFGR/model # etc..from Key FOB or on Alarm Module Body (not the horn)

Guessing that da Switch is what is ref. to as da Valet / Override Switch; "...Many of today's alarms have a port to plug the valet/ override switch(es) directly into them. If not connect one wire of the switch(es) to ground and the other to the specified input of the alarm..."

by the12volt.com

& by the12volt.com; they also state; "...If you do not find the vehicle wiring information you're looking for here, please post your request at the12volt's install bay. We will NOT respond to any requests by email. * Cruise control and navigation information such as Tach, Vehicle Speed Signal (VSS), and Brake wiring can often be found in the alarm information available. Please see alarm information for remote start and keyless entry wiring..."

sharpe;

I believe the thAng your uncle cleaned was the battery's posts.

Ask him to inspect the cables carefully, to the starter relay on passenger fender, and to the starter, etc.

Look for whitish deposits on the connectors, as well as the cable strands; due to the age of these Broncos, corrosion sets-in under the connectors, and between the cable's strands.

Also, this is a C&P from my 96's Owner's Guide;

Remote entry personal alarm

If you wish to activate the remote entry system

personal alarm, press the PANIC button. This

will honk the horn and flash the lights for

123

approximately 2 minutes 45 seconds. You can

turn it OFF by pressing the PANIC button again

from the same transmitter or by turning the

ignition to the ON or ACCESSORY position.

When you use the remote entry UNLOCK or

PANIC buttons, the illuminated entry system

turns on the vehicle’s interior lights for 25

seconds. You can turn these lights off with the

remote entry LOCK button or by turning the

ignition to the ON or ACCESSORY position.

Illuminated Entry System (If equipped)

This system will provide illumination of the

vehicle’s interior courtesy lamps when either

outside front door handle is pulled or when the

Remote Entry System is used to unlock the door

or sound the Personal Alarm. The system will

automatically turn off after approximately 25

seconds or when the ignition is turned to the

START or ACCESSORY position.

NOTE: The inside lights will not turn off if

you have turned them on with the

dimmer **** or if any door is open.

Battery Saver (with Remote Entry — If

equipped)

When the ignition is turned off, the vehicle will

turn off battery voltage to all of these lights after

40 minutes: glove box, engine compartment,

overhead console, mirror, courtesy and

interior (including cargo) lamps.

This will prevent draining of the battery if these

lights have been left on inadvertently or if a

door is not completely closed. Battery voltage to

these lamps will be restored when the remote

entry transmitter is used, any door is opened, or

the ignition key is turned on again

Thanks miesk5 for that info, I think I'll print it out and put it with my EVTM.

On my FOB I have:

FCC ID.ELVNTREA

PART NO. 5BCRO3B

I have both a switch, and a button on the driver's side kick panel.

I set the alarm with my FOB.

I turned the ignition key to ON and held the button in for 30-40 seconds, and then I tried to start, but the starter didn't crank (no clcik of the starter relay)

I flipped the switch and did the same, and got the same results.

So... I tried one more test, I put the key in acc position, held the button for 30 or so seconds, then tried to start, to no avail.

Am I doing something wrong?

I used the FOB to turn the alarm off, and she started right up.

ok,

I have no idea of what is wrong.

But a fast Google job gives;

Code Alarm 2-Way Replacement

Remote Code Alarm CA-680/180 or Audiovox Replacement Transmitter

FCC ID# ELVNTREA

next is da Search for Audiovox corp site

http://mobile.audiovox.com/audiovox/AudiovoxController.do?ACTION_TYPE_ID=ACTION_TYPE_CATEGORY&ACTION_CATEGORY_ID=STR_CATEGORY_CODEALARM

I picked this one out: look for what you have (if it is still sold and supported; if not, look @ one that is similar..# of buttons, etc.)

http://mobile.audiovox.com/audiovox/AudiovoxProductDetail.do?ACTION_TYPE_ID=ACTION_TYPE_PRODUCT_DETAIL&ACTION_CATEGORY_ID=STR_CATEGORY_CODEALARM_SECURITY_SYSTEMS&ACTION_PRODUCT_ID=CA1050

Owner/User Manual http://audiovox2.info/docs/voxx_mob/man/CA1050_DOC_OM.PDF

Will post now since you're here and my Comcast is very very slow

All of those are different. Alot of them are turn the key on and hold the button, or flip the switch, some are hitting the buttons a few times, and there are a few more I havent even figured out yet. They drive me nuts sometimes. Worst thing about them is, most of the time when they go off, people just ignore them anyway since they go off all the time. Myself included.
