What do you all do with your stuff when you take the top off? I am sure most of you are like me and keep tools and stuff in your ride most of the time, but what keeps your stuff safe when you are *******?

i put all my bolts, fasteners, push pins, etc. in ziplock freezer bags and label them. i lay my interior trim pieces on top of the topper along with the ziplocks. that way i can't misplace anything when i put it back on because it's all together.

I think he means how do you keep items inside the truck secure from theft. The obvious answer is don't keep anything inside that you can't afford to lose. I carry only the minimum amount of tools for a quick fix. (a couple screwdirivers, pliers, adjustable wrench, tire changing stuff) I also have a Tuffy brand security console between the front seat where I keep anything of value. Tuffy is a bit pricey but they make a very good product, at work many of our patrol vehicles have tuffy boxes in them. The faceplate for the radio is removeable (and locked in the Tuffy console) and the CB is $25 flea market find.

the Tuff console by far is the best. its not the cheapest replacement console around but it gives thieves **** when they try yo break into it. its worth it to spend the xtra money

I had that same question cause i take a tool kit, straps, high lift, towels and extra cloths (in case i get really wet), ect... so i decided to build a box of my own in the back. I just used 1/2" plywood and 1x4s... i added a few hinges and a lock. it is about 54"longx20"deepx24"tall(rough guesstimate). it fits in the back without being so tall that it sticks out (about flush with the top of the rear quarters). i plan on bolting down so it doesn't go anywhere while wheeling. not that it really goes far now cause its a bit heavy when full. i have just enough room to reach in and open the tailgate. if the box does happen to move it isn't to hard to tilt it a bit to open the rear tailgate. I also am going to use a silicone caulk and some weatherproof strip to make it water tight so i can leave the top of permanently.

so if you are handy with tools i am sure you can come up with a design of you own or try to mimic mine if you like. happy building!

P.S. the Tuffy center console is a good buy as well...

Thanks for all the input. I am working on getting a tuffy console to replace mine and just purchased an aluminum 24x24x12 locking tool box to store the tools in, the plan is to have a stud coming from the floor that will come up through the bottom of the box that I can put a pin in to hold it secure to the floor (and keep it from being picked up by sticky fingers). I was just curious what you all did and see if there are any better ideas that what I have come up with. How well do the tuffy consoles fit in the Bronco's. I had one in an FJ40 that was great but so far have only found one place that says they have a Tuffy console that fits the full size Bronco and I remember the one in my FJ was narrower than what comes stock in the Bronco.

I have the Tuffy 016 (12.5" W, 24 " L, 12" H) model; fits perfectly exc I had to swap one bolt for a longer one to mount it.

The powdercoating has held up GREAT over past 11 yrs.

Search net for tuffy bronco; some places used to offer it for less than Tuffy directly ($229.00 & S&H)

www.4wheelerssupply.com used to be about $12 cheaper but is now $5 more

I also have a Graybar electrical utility box that is 12" x 12" w/hinged lid and key lock; I use that in front of the Tuffy for incidentals; may mount a gauge or 2 and switched in there soon. Looks like this these folks want 174 for it!..geez!

here is how it is mounted in relation to driver's seat

click right arrow for next pic when you hot link to it

Looks good, I was wondering what one looked like mounted compared to the stock console. I also like the electrical box too, makes me think about going to some home improvement type stores or electrical specialty stores that might locking utility boxes as well that might be waterproof.. HMMMMM.....

Thanks for the info. By the way, I like your red Bronco in the pics, looks great.

Turn my shock sensing alarm on and if anyone even tries to climb in the back, the horn goes off like a bitch
