Just got myself a 95 Bronc XLT 5.8L EFI E4OD. Real nice , but it seems to have loose steering. I have been told that I can adjust the steering box, and know to do it in small increments. Do you test the steering wheel play with the pump running, or not? Also, someone said that it may be worn tie rod ends, Is there a way to test these other than shaking them? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I'm a "Newbie"

Again, I have 1 last question (for now), I was looking into getting a K&N fipk, but how do I tell if I have Mass-Air or not??

Thanks for your help & wisdom

That's a "pre-load" adj. *****...not a slop adj. It's there to set the load when re-building or new. (I wouldn't mess with that at this time)

Play in box is easy to spot....someone turns the str. wheel back & forth while you watch the shaft & pitman arm.

Your prob. is more likely to be in the steering rods, etc.

Set the axle tubes on jack stands...wiggle & insp. all joints. Try to move wheels up & down.

Don't waste your $$ on K&N

Thanks,

Tie rod ends were OK. Ball joints were not great, allignment is bad, and 1 wheel bearing is a little loose. Going to replace all 4 ball joints & get allignment. Hope that fixes her. As for the K&N, I thought from what I read on this forum, that it was a pretty good modification. I guess I've got alot to learn.

Thanks again
