Can anyone tell me or direct me to the proper adjustment of a Ford Saginaw manual steering box?

New to Fords and EB's

If you're refering to "play" in the steering box....there really is no adjustment.

That *****-slot with a lock-down nut is a "pre-load" adj. for new & re-built boxes. B)

This is the "decision point" for converting to power steering...(or a re-built/used manual box)

Thanks, Bob - I haven't found any "OLD" Ford mechanix in my part of the world and the shade trees have told me that you can "adjust out the play" with the ***** adjustment. Is there any such thing as rebuilding it yourself?

My does not leak and I would like to keep it that way, I have found a local rebuild shop - ran by Orientals and I would like to know that I am getting my box back.

Also, the rebuilders I have found online, seem HIGH for just a 6 month warrenty.

REALLY didn't want to put $1000 bucks into this Bronc as it is really just a farm truck.

Sometimes the play is in the "bell-connector" at the end of the steering shaft.

With the proper proceedures & parts, I'm sure one could re-build the box.

I've done a few L. Cruiser boxes but not these Bronco boxes.

Toms Br. parts (& others) are showing $125+ to re-build yours...& prob. have some good used....

Where are you....?

Fort Worth, TX....thanks for the information. I rarely get to research and discuss my 'ole Bronc and I am the only one I know that own's one. Seems like most of the 4x4 shops around here are HIGH for just general mechanix stuff. Guess I haven't been around long enough or know enough to be considered one of the good 'ole boys and really don't have the time to hang around the shops to become one!
