I have a 1974 302 auto. I'm doing a frame off restoration. My basic problem is my starter does not engage the flywheel - flexplate. I replaced the manual transmission with 75' automatic and the auto had a flexplate installed already. And the starter is long enough but is just to the left of the flexplate. Any helpful ideas??

There is a 152 and a 160 something flywheel sounds like you have the smaller one there is a difference in the starters between manual and automatic but it is the length of the snout Im thinking the manual one is shorter but if your off to the side like that it is probably the smaller flywheel :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
