Well, rinoliner would be the way to go...only drawback it aint cheap...but it sure lasts a whole lot longer....i had my top done to the tune of $200 bucks....not bad considering what gelcoat and fiberglass and then paint would have cost...And that's with me working at the bodyshop that did it for me...paints great but unless you use an epoxy grade of paint first time you go wheelin and stop at the carwash(late at night of course)you'll blow half your paint off...one other option is undercoating about as tough as rhinoliner and cheaper than paint....Either way you want to get as much of the rust off as possible....hope this kinda gave am idea or two... I understand...after doing my top i just took a wire brush and a wire wheel to the bottom of mine....I knocked as much rust as i could and just hit it with undercoat.. looks real good with everything nice and blk'd out..... B)

Look into a product called POR-15

That stuff is almost bulletproof. you only need to knock off the lose rust as this stuff loves rust.

Yeah,i forgot all about por-15...it does work great...just be sure to use in a well ventilated area the stuff is strong smelling....and they have there thinner to cut it down so you can spray it too.like shadow-d was saying all you have to do is knock off the loose stuff...apply and the rust is dead...
