Hello I just joined today i figured if I had a bronco question this was the place to come.

I am putting a solid axel D 44 out of 1979 F 150 in my 1990 Bronco and after pulling a tape today i am trying to figure out what to do with the radious arms the 79 ones are 32 inches long compared to the 24 inches of the newer one. the other thing is the width the newer style has radious arm on outside of frame the older has them underneath. so using the 6 inch skyjacker drop brackets is out of the question. i have been looking for a 6 inch drop bracket for the 79 but no luck yet.

Help what did you do on yours.

Hmmm. Unfortunately I don't have *direct* experience w/this particular swap. I've put D60's under a couple of 78/79's. The first one I just pulled the coils & towers out & swapped in the whole D60 assembly complete with the leaf springs, not something I'd do again. Second time around I sectioned the D44 that came out to get at the radius arm "ears" and had them welded onto the D60 and went that way with it.

With your 90' you're just going to be stuck with doing some fabrication. I'd grind off the rivets holding the 79' radius arm brackets on & then weld them onto the 90' frame. Obviously there will be some fab work involved but that's probably the way *I'd* go. The alternative would be to just fabricate new brackets, bolt them onto the radius arms then line the whole thing up & weld the brackets where they're gonna need to be. If you fab the brackets then you can build the 6" of drop into them from the outset and not ***** around with adapting kit parts.

while fabbing up the mounts you should consider changing the bushings on the rear of the radius arm over to female heim joints and fab a bracket up to match on the frame... I will be working on building a setup for my 79. by adding the heim joints you will be lengthening your radius arms a little and it will allow them to articulate better.

6" lift you are going to want to drop the radius arms down anyways or it may ***** up your pinion angle when setting things up.

rocky mountain has a 4" radius arm drop bracket. Id get a drop bracket and weld/bolt it to your frame. I dont know how the frame sections changed but id guess you may be in for some bracing/boxing of the frame. i would anyways.
