Turn kick down rod adjusting ***** out 1/8th" inch
Check vacuum at modulator
Kick Down; "...I believe it's 1987+ that uses a cable and not a rod. Find a 1987+ Ford truck, van or Bronco that has a 302 or 351 with C6 and it'll have the cable you need..."

Also,
Vacuum Modulator Troubleshooting; You have a modulator on the rear of the transmission on the C4 / C5 and the C6 units. Pull the vacuum line off the mod. If fluid comes out of the vacuum line your modulator is not good.
