I own a 1989 Bronco with a c6 transmission and it seems like each time I go into the 2nd gear, there is a small delay then it will go into 2nd and the rest are smooth. I do have a transmission leak. And I always pay attention to my fluid level (I think the leak is the pan gasket IDK) But could this have anything to do with this delay?

LATE, HARSH, OR NO SHIFT

Turn kick down rod adjusting ***** out 1/8th" inch

Check vacuum at modulator

Kick Down; "...I believe it's 1987+ that uses a cable and not a rod. Find a 1987+ Ford truck, van or Bronco that has a 302 or 351 with C6 and it'll have the cable you need..."

Also,

Vacuum Modulator Troubleshooting; You have a modulator on the rear of the transmission on the C4 / C5 and the C6 units. Pull the vacuum line off the mod. If fluid comes out of the vacuum line your modulator is not good.

miesk5 NOTE; a leak in the hose or a ruptured Vacuum Modulator diaphragm.

Vacuum Modulator Adjustment; "...Stock factory modulators are pre-set and most are sealed. TCI® StreetFighter® modulator-type transmissions are all equipped with adjustable modulators. By turning the adjusting ***** (found in the vacuum ******) counterclockwise, you will lower the spring pre-load. This will cause earlier shifts. By turning the adjusting ***** clockwise and raising the spring pre-load, the shift points will go up. The range of adjustability is only a few mph either way..."
