When new, my '86 Bronco had a plastic sheath around the belt that held the buckle up beside the console. Sort of looked like a cobra's head sticking out of a snake charmers basket. The plastic deteriorated and fell apart years ago. I had to buy the entire belt system to get this portion. Well, now both drivers and passengers side has broken again. I have a tacky piece of elastic laying across the console and tied to each buckle, which keeps the buckle within reach. The console cover hides some of the elastic but I am not happy with the arrangement.

I need a better way to keep the buckles within easy reach. Is anyone aware of an aftermarket device to support the buckles, or has anyone fabricated a solution you are proud of? Thanks.

I have considered riviting a plastic strap to the side of the console to hold mine upright, just have not gotten to it always something else that has to be done first.

I'm afraid that your only hope is a junk yard. I've been looking for a new set for mine for several years and have yet to find a satisfactory replacement in any other place. I have one set in my garage that has the section that goes beside the console mounted on a flexible whip, but it does not have the switch to indicate the seat belt is latched. Also the attachment bracket for the other half isn't shaped properly to fit the floor attachment bolt by the B-post. If you find someone who makes a replacement that actually works like the original let us know.

Good luck,

:)>-

yo,

I don't have a source for the sheath so iggie this reply to save your time...

But this is for other seat belt parts and a possible belt source(s);

I have been wondering about this company for awhile; but have not found any Bronco/F series/van owner that have bought from them for a review.

AutoLoc™ (thehoffmangroup.com) - Bronco/Ford truck replacement seat belts

They don't show the plastic sheath though; in my 96 the sheath is part of; 61202 Front Safety Belt Buckle End, RH

Ford says;

Safety Belts, Front Seats

Retractor and Tongue

NOTE: Safety belt buckles, center adjust tongues and belt and retractor assembly can be replaced separately. However, if a safety belt assembly was in use during a collision, the belt and retractor must be replaced as well as the center adjust tongue and belt and buckle assembly or the center adjust tongue and the cable and buckle assembly. When replacing safety belt and buckles, safety cable and buckles, center adjust tongues and belt and retractors, use only the replacement parts specified in the Ford Master Parts Catalogs for the make and model of the vehicle being serviced. Safety belt assemblies must not be interchanged between vehicle models.

so, a google gave me;

Ford 1980-89 Master Parts Catalog Download (Dial Up No-No)

Credit goes to Cadfan64 for giving me the cd. It contains a part number for almost every part imaginable, the proper bolt sizes for everything, and diagrams on how things are assembled. These files are about 200MB each so its going to be a lengthy download. Gadget is supposed to help me with hosting these so they don't have to be downloaded to be viewed, but until then, here are the links.

Part 1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QR6XLG36

Part 2 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NJW5HKXE

Part 3 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FH5QX6NP

Note: The number of pages in these files is close to 14,000.

MB; is over 100MB

I began download, but I stopped it due to time constraints on this lap top; AVG Anti-Virus passed it as OK
