Road time with my 2wd bronco

I have been driving it for about a week and really like it,it rides a little rougher then the long bed F150s I had but no big deal and I noticed the shorter wheelbase handles a little different too but I will get used to it. I still have 31 inch tires on the rear and with the 3.55 gears its in o/d at 40 so I am thinking I might step down to gears to the 3.08 to 3.25 range so it wont strain the 302 too much around 40 to 45,I would like to gear it so I dont use o/d until its going over 50. I am happy with the way it turned out and wish I done it sooner.

I had it about a year and it took longer then I thought to get it where I wanted it,I am thinking about getting a 80 to 86 9 inch to put in it so gear changes are much easier.

if you're gonna stick with 31's on the rear I would advise against 3.08 gears, ive got 3.08 with my 31's right now and the rpms at 50mph are just too low, its fine from 55 and up but 45 to 55 in od the truck just does not like it.

If I go with 3.08s I wont even think about using o/d until I am going over 55,it kicks in at 40 now which might be lugging the motor down a little so if I can keep it for kicking in until I am over 55 that should work just fine or try to go in the 3.25 range.

Do not worry about pushing the 302 it is happier at 2500-3000.
