info on the truck would help...and I don't think that the stock wheels are 8inch, I beleive 7.5". You will find that tire mfg's suggest no more than 4 inches difference in tire to rim widith...so a 12.50 should be run on an 8.5 inch rim (at least) and better on a 10-10.5 inch. Now...this is the recommendation...you will find many people running 12.50's on the stockers...I just researched for a while and picked up a set of wheels myself...however, I got a set of 33x10.50's so I would not have any rubbing issues as mine is still sitting on stock suspension height. I would not go bigger than 33x12.50 on the stockers if I were you though...maybe just look for some cheap steal wheels until you can upgrade to something better...get a set of 10 inch wheels to run the 35x12.50's....just my 2 cents.

Okay this is from word of mouth from a group of mechanics and mudders. as long as there isn't a huge difference in the width of the tire and the rim then it will fit. they say up to 12.5 will fit on 7.5" rim it will only **** in the sidewalls at the rim making the tire taller. anything bigger then 12.5 then you need to go up to a 10" rim. I run 12.5's on 8" rims with absolutely no issues.

33x12.5x 15's are what I had before I put my lift in they ran with no issues. you can run 35's with no lift but no promises a 2" lift would be ideal and the 12.5 will fit on the stock rim

My unlifted '96 has 33s. I had to trim the front bumper. It will rub a little when on very uneven ground. 35s would rub at the front of the front fender.
