I have to repeat this post too. Dont know how I screwed up but the question is for our 95 Bronco

and not an oldie style.

The current headlights are fogged and or pitted. We changed to a higher output lamp but the lighting

is very marginal by todays standards. ( I think the lights on the snow plow are brighter)

We found replacement lenses on EBay. There are OEM or similar available, but I am interested in

trying the 'clear' lenses that a few different suppliers are offering. Most seem to be about $80/pair.

The best road lighting is what we are trying for and this is not a style thing.

Hoping someone has had experience with different lense types or providers to steer us to a

good choice. The effort to change this makes me not want to experiment.

Thanks for your help,

tc

The first thing you want to do is a headlight wiring upgrade. What that does is to remove the headlights from the other lighting circuit and provides a full 12V to the headlight by shortening the path from the alternator to the headlights and increases the wire size. That results in reducing the voltage drop. It is a very simple procedure and you can either build the new harness yourself or order a kit that is basically, "plug and play" from a place like LMC Truck http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?page=60 or Ron Francis Wiring http://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HR-58 , a painless harness from Jeggs http://www.jegs.com/p/Painless/748950/10002/-1

LMC truck has a complete upgrade including new lenses and I believe it has HID lamps.

Good luck,

:)>-

If you want to save some money, you can always try this - Headlamp Restoration. It's a nice write up for a mazda3 (my other car), but it should work for any plastic lens. Don't hate on the mazda....I need a daily driver!

Like seabronc was saying if your going to do a headlamp up-grade or change the frist place to start is the heavier harness....I changed my seal-beams for clear composite headlamps....They really made a big difference in the lighting...there are quite a few suppliers out there that carry the type of lamps you're looking for...JC Whitney is one,LMC Truck is were i got my lamps and upgraded harness....Works great maybe to good iget flashed more now than with the seal-beams...People thinking i'm running with high beams on...Till i do hit the high beams and it seems like instant daylight.... :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The wiring up-grade sounds like a wise change. This may also help our plow lights since they run thru an adapter.

I appreciate the inputs and I would like to find a top quality lense to replace the existing lights.

My current lights are not sealbeams but have upgraded bulbs/lamps. The current lenses could be cleaned but they are trash.

thanks all

I just helped my friend put HID light kits in the fogs on his Acura. They aren't just bulbs its the ballast and everything. He got yellow <_< but they have plain white and Diamond white.

I swapped out a set of black/smoked lenses on my 96 (check my gallery for pics) and the light output is much better. They have the same style, but in a clear lense and I would assume the output would even be a little better as they are not smoked (or tinted) like mine. Check out EBAY for Bronco Headlight Clear, and you wil see a few. Upgrade the bulbs to a Xenon gas bulb or something similar, and you will be surprised at the difference over stock.

I looked at the Clear lenses offered on Ebay and find a variety of suppliers.

Can anyone suggest one supplier over another ?? Or one make over another ??

thanks
