I got a great deal for 39 bucks on a new Bulldog deluxe 200B remote starter with the keyless entry with a cool LCD fob and all the bells and whistles new in box. I'm good with wiring and the likes and can hold my own with a wrench.

I have downloaded all the wiring diagrams needed and am ready to start. And yes I have a test light, Simpson multimeter soldering iron, shrink tubbing and everything else I think I should need. Key word think. If anybody has any insight before I start please give me a heads up.

I was just wondering if anybody has installed one and might have a few short cuts, suggestions or "oh craps" I might need to know. And also as to where you mounted the 2 control boxes and internal antenna.

Thanks in advance

Mike G

Make yourself a great day!

It should work just fine on an EFI engine. If you can start the truck with just the key and no gas pedal then a remote starter will work.

Good luck,

:)>-

i was gonna say that if your truck was stick shift you would have to disconnect the sensor that is activated when you push in the clutch to start the truck. but i see from you sig that you have the e40d so no worries on that. i just remembered installing one on a blazer with the 4 speed bulldog and having to disconnect that and work around it. not necessarily a big deal but a little frustrating when you have never put one on and still trying to figure it out. once you do it its easy

Thanks for that BB.

I had 2 of them one for me and one for the wifes 02 Maxima. After reading about all the stuff in her car that had to be messed with with the factory alarm and pulling out the ignition assembly to bypass the alarm on and on and on. The 2nd one went back today. She's got keyless entry already.

First cool day I'm going to get started and take some pictures of the process to post to the forum.

hey mike g i dont blame you for sending the one for the maxima back. new cars have too much electronix to mess with. the good thing is that trux like ours are straight forward for the most part. when you start to do the install keep us posted so we know how it turns out

I'm not seeing that you've got it in yet? If you have an airbag don't ground out the wires (don't touch them with the test light) or you'll pop the bag. It's a pretty simple install really, just take your time. Also, there should be one "constant" one "on" and one "start." The start wire is blue with a red line on it kind of a smaller diameter. Also, you will want to check to find out what wire when "hot" turns your air on. There's one that'll turn the truck "on" and one to put power to the radio and then one to put power to the air control part. If you need any more help I'll pull off my lower panel and give a little more discription. Would take a picture but the wireing is everywhere.

Man its been so hot here that I haven't felt like doing battle with it. So this evening I went out and pulled all the dash panels off. The lower under steering wheel dash cover, bottom half of steering column cover and left hand kick panel to get at the electric locks. I came in and stripped all the wires so I'll be ready to go bright and early in the morning before it gets to hot. Plugged the main starter harness back in so I could roll up the widows. One trip to Autozone to get a 775 relay for the interior lights then off to the races.

I'll take some pics as long as the sweat from my head doesn't mess up my camera to post. After spending all my morning quality time in the reading chair for the last week memorizing the instructions I'm thinking 2 hours to get er done.

I ask before but does anybody have a good place to mount the control box and the program/valet button push button?

Well I got the remote start part in it and working. Didn't quite get started as soon as I wanted. About 1030ish. The hood and brake cut off switch and parking light interface. But right now the heat index is 95 and I have no shade. This evening I hope to get the door locks hooked up. I got some pics I'll get uploaded later. Right know it looks like a small bomb went off under the dash.

I know the neutral safety switch is on the tranny but does anybody know where it might be accessed without going under the truck to make that long wire run. Like does it run through the cab or just runs up front underneath? I'm thinking about not hooking it up. Don't see much value when it has to be in park to turn if off and get out. So why would it ever be left in gear when your not in it?

Haven't had to cut any wires yet just strip 1/2" in the middle, wrap the wire, solder and tape it good. The wires for the door locks will have to be cut to run both sides through the brain. And I have my relay to hook up the dome lights.

Time for a nap!

Sorry for the delay on the remote starter install.

All in all it went very well. The worst thing was it was extremely hot so I only worked a couple of hours in the morning and evening over 3 days. Instructions were pretty clear along with the wiring diagram I downloaded from their web site.

The only thing that did not work as instructed was the connection to the door lock actuators. I ended up hooking them straight to the wires as where the instructions said to cut the wires and run them through the box. So those 2 wires were the only ones that actually got cut. The others were just stripped, wrapped the wire and soldered them. Access to the main starter harness was not to bad as well as the head light harness. The hardest one was the one for the locks in the passenger kick panel. The harness was behind the others and not to much slack.

The hood safety switch was an easy install. I don’t like how I ran the wire but could not find an easy way through the firewall. When I get back under the dash to fix my trip odometer I’ll have another look.

But man it sure nice to start it from within the store and the AC is blowing cold when you get in.
