Check the plug at the motor with a test light. Get a friend to push the button. No light move to the plug behind the drivers side taillight. Open the tailgate and pull the rubber grommet through, (on the truck side) You will see the plug. Same test. If you have power here then your problem lies in the box thats inside your tailgate. I cant spit the name of it at this time but you cant miss it, right by the keyhole. I bypassed this box on my truck and it works great, just cant use the key anymore. If you had no power then you know its between the switch and that plug. This is where I would go to the other end and start test the switch and whatnot.

I just had the same problem with my rear window. It turned out to be the connector where the motor wiring harness connects to the car harness by the tailgate release handle. To trouble shoot the harness remove the left rear tail light lense and disconnect the plug that goes to the tailgate. There are three contact plugs inside the connector, two attached to blue wires and one attached to a black wire. Connect a jumper wire to one of the blue wires and another jumper wire to the black one. Next connect each of the jumper wires to a 12volt battery charger (it does not make any differance which one of these is connected to positive ir negative), this will give power to the tailgate wiring harness and bypass any possible problems with the car wiring harness. I would also disconnect the tailgate latch safety switch which is located either along side of the motor connector or attached to the left tailgate latch on some models. The safety switch has only two connectors on it so it is easy to identify then just connect another jumper wire across those two wires to complete the connection. Now you can use a multimeter to verify power to the motor or to see if the safety switch is bad.

If you are trying to test the window with the tailgate in the open position, with the wiring harness connected normally, don't forget to to make sure both latches on the tailgate are in the closed position as they would beif the tailgate was closed or the window motor will not work, this is normal.
