I forgot my manual at home, and I need to replace my transfercase seal this week while I'm at home and on spring break. I'm talking about the seal where the rear driveshaft comes out of the transfercase. Is there anything to it, just disconnect the driveshaft and pull the thing out or do I have to take the case apart?

Hasn't anyone taken their transfer case apart? Does the deal insert from the backside of the case or the front side? BTW I got my chiltons manual and it is absolutely worthless.

I have not taken mine apart. Try sending a PM to Blade262, he knows a lot about t-cases. Good luck.

That is why I own a complete set of shop manuals for my truck. I haven't done it, but according to the shop manual I have it doesn't look like too hard of a project. Which one do you have, Borg Warner or New Process Gear? From a quick look at the manual it looks like all you have to do is remove the drive shaft, remove the rear output yoke (nut and washer hold it on) then pull the seal and insert a new one. On the NPG it looks like you will have to remove the rear bearing retainer since the shaft will be in the way, (four bolts). The Borg looks a little more involved. Oh yah, drain the fluid first or you might get wet :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

:)>-

I have the Borg Warner T case, so is this "remove the drive shaft, remove the rear output yoke (nut and washer hold it on) then pull the seal and insert a new one. " all I have to do?
