Well, with 15 plus years of NO accidents, I guess it was bound to happen. Last night I was coming off an off-ramp, yeilding to the cross traffic as directed by the yeild sign and my intelligence...when this dude in a chevy sivlerado tagged me real good from behind. Pushed my bumper under and bent it up but good, bent the frame on the left side where the bumper brackets mount, pushed the spare tire in enough to crease the tailgate real good. Put some dents and scratches in the left rear quarter panel. It also appears the leaf springs on the driver side have shifted a bit. I'm still shook up about it. The only damage this highly cherished, nearly 20 year old family heirloom has seen is by my own hand (offroading I hit a tree stump) but other than that, it's cherry. I'm in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area...and hope somebody knows an excellent collision repair shop. Since it was entirely this dudes fault, I'm going to get er' done correctly. What do you all think about Ford dealership work? Should I look for an independent collision shop? If you know of anybody in the Tulsa area, I'd sure appreciate the input. I'm just so upset I'm almost in tears...and I don't cry about anything but my Momma and my Bronco. Encouraging words welcome. :((

I know how you feel and sorry to hear about the accident. If someone bent my truck up, I'd be sick. The fact is, that if you're OK and no one got hurt that is what's important. The metal can either be replaced or repaired. I'd go for an independant body shop. Check around, get prices, talk to them and look at their work. Your insurance agent may have some knowledge of different shop reputations if you don't know anyone who has delt with a body shop before.

Good luck,

:)>-

Well howdy there Seabronc,

Thanks. Hey, does anybody know of an aftermarket or custom fab rear bumper for my 87 full size Bronco? The only thing I can seem to find is that Fey bumper...and that's what I had on there...no offense to anyone, but they are really cheapo crap. I wish I had a stock bumper...or something comparable. The quality and gauge of steel on the factory bumper is FAR superior to the cheap, lightweight Fey replacement. There used to be a company here in Tulsa, Oklahoma called Bundy Bumper. As I understand it they went out of business...but their bumpers are still seen all over the place to this day. They are GREAT bumpers. If anybody knows where I can find one of these or a nice, heavyweight aftermarket or custom fab bumper, I'd sure appreciate it. :)>-

You know what Seabronc, You can get just about everything else for the rear bumper EXCEPT the bumper from LMC. If you know otherwise, help me out. I got their cataloge...that bumper was whited out...not available. I want stock. Any other ideas? I'd appreciate it.

Snowman,

I got a 90 with the stock bumper, I'm thinking of replacing it with a heavy duty one soon, but it won't be till after plowing season. I'll let you know.

Fire,

The stock bumper from 87 up was an 8000LB capacity bumper. So, my question to you is, you must know of an even heavier bumper...what is it?!?!?!?!?!?

Like I told the Surveyor in an email...this is one of the kindest gestures anybody has ever extended to me. NOBODY gives away free Bronco bumpers. They're becoming scarce as white tigers. I just wanted to say thanks! :)>-

Just got one this weekend. Came off a 1990 F150. Going to have to fabricate some brackets on this one. Anybody done something like this before?
