A few weeks ago my wife was driving her Bronco and the rear driver side axle rolled out. She wasn't hurt and there was no other damage to the truck. I got a couple of new axles and wheel bearings. When I slid in the driver side axle it goes all the way in, but when I turn the wheels, the diff doesn't turn. I can see the spider gears turning but the cage isn't. Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening?

Hi scott.., welcome..!

I assume the 8.8 switched to "C" clips to hold the axle in..?

It's unclear what all you have disconnected but;

The open diff's are a weird animal.  With BOTH wheels off the ground, spinning one should spin the other in the oposite direction.

With the pass. wheel on the ground, the dr. shaft will spin if trannie is in neutral.

From your statment, it doesn't sound like you have a (diff.) problem unless something is broken in there.
