so this guy I know is a "master mechanic" and I am not so I gave him my bronco to replace the brake lines and pinion seals front and rear. while he was working on it I asked if he could take a look at my steering- the classic wondering . I've read on here the rag joint is sometimes the culprit, so I asked him if he could check that out and in my ignorance asked if the box was out of adjustment or what ever. well I got the bronco back and the steering is horrible, its super tight like hard to turn tight and still has slop. I looked up what it could b and read about the worm gear preload nut and how it's not supposed to be touched, and he said he spun it 17x!! I just want to know if there is a way to spin it back to where it's supposed to be. I'd rather have sloppy steering then have it just jam up on me or something

Smart move on your part...!!!

That's very dangerous & he has set himself up for a law suit..!!!!

(lets hope nothing happens) [-o<

There's a lot of "master mech." out there that don't know "J.S."

That could cause your box to self destruct..!!

Loosen the lock-nut & back the slot ***** out maybe 15 turns...then see if you have steering B/4 you get out in traffic.

At the end of the day....you'll prob. have to re-build/replace the box.

I'm guessing this guy didn't like you...!!! :glare:

Maybe take pics or a video so as to have some proof..!!

I'd take it to a real shop that deals in front ends. It could be any number of things or a combination of things. Besides the box it could be tie rod ends, ball joints, tires, etc.

Good luck,

:)>-
