I purchased a 96 bronco yesterday with a 302 in it I was trying to see if there was a performance chip or what the easiest was to get some added performance would be. As of right now it has a siezed block that I need to pull and see why it seized. I might get away with just doing a crank but if not will a 351 bolt to the same trans. I am looking for somewhat affordable power and maybe even a new block with more power I know the stock 302 has 199 horse and the stock 351 only has 210 for that year. Does anyone know a place I can find an affordable block with around 300 ponies or even a rebuild kit that would give me around that much from either engine thanks

Hey Dave,

Welcome.First avoid the cheap ($69.00) chips that are advertised and are connecteed at the IAT sensor. They are junk and do nothing.

A 351 about the same year should bolt right in.

If you can stand with the truck being down for awhile, I would rebuild the 302. Search or better call someplace like Summit or Jegs and tell them what you have and what you want and they can get you the parts, ( cam and components , headers, exhaust, t bodies, intake, etc.0 that will give you what or close to what you want.

A 300 horse crate engine or shortblock or would be more expensive.

Good Luck

I've heard that all 97's had the GT40 heads, I don't know when Ford switched to the P heads. The GT40 heads have GT cast into them in several places, also if you can see the end of the head the GT40 heads have three bars cast into the end, the GT40P heads have four bars cast into the head..."
