Greetings from Hans-On! I'm new. I have a 1985 Bronco 2 with the 2.8 Liter V-6. I am rebuilding my Motorcraft Carb. (E57E BA, F5A 22). What I don't know is which of three designations mine is. The rebuild kit says; "Model 2100, 2150, 2150A". Anybody know for sure? Question #2: My two "Idle Mixture Screws" look burned at the interior tips and unequally so. My brain says I need to replace these. Right? Where do I purchase these and is one better (More reliable and longer lasting) than another? Thnx for your interest! Hans-On.

Welcome to the Zone > . First we need to establish what carb you actually have. Once we do that then the idle mixture screws are usually included in the kit. Post a couple of pictures of the carb from different angles and maybe we can id it for you.

Good luck,

:)>-

 Hans-On here again. I figured out which Carb I have thanx! It is cleaned and reassembled and I think I did it right. HOWEVER, there are two parts I am not totally sure about. 1)See the float in the attached photo? Duh. OK, the spring on the Float Rod on the right side of the float assembly. Does it go there? Does it press down on the float or lift up to provide resistance? I couldn't conclude that it goes anywhere else. The coils of the spring fit perfectly around the Float Rod. The Instruction Worksheet Illustrations don't show the spring any where. (Later): OK, I removed that spring which is #31 in second image. Where does it go please? 2) In that same image #30 has two parts showing. A) The Choke Rod Dust Shield is my concern I know where the B)Choke Rod goes and how, I believe. However, where does the Dust Shield go on the Rod, please?

Would you like to share the information with us, which one is it? If that spring does anything it presses down to prevent the float from bouncing around on bumps. If it were to press up, then you would probably suffer from fuel starvation.

I don't know if I can verbally describe where the dust shield goes, but I'll take a crack at it. If I were there it would be a simple matter of putting it in it's proper position, so take this in the light that I may not describe it well and you will have to wing it a bit. First off it goes over the choke rod where it enters the carb to hook onto the choke plate shaft. The dust shield should slide in a preformed slot in the carb that has the same shape . You may have to play with it a bit to get it and the rod in.

Good luck,

:)>-
