Bump in rearend- I know this subject has been addressed before but I'm unable to find it again. Step on the gas and I get a "slight" bump as I take off. Like I said, I know you all have adressed this a couple of times before but one more time please------

Steering box adjustment-In some posts it seems it is ok to adjust the steering box (loose/sloppy) steering-BUT-in a post not long age it was stated that you should NEVER attempt any adjustments. I have just enough play to make it noticeable, to adjust or not to adjust-that is the question.

Just want to thank everyone on this site for the outstanding job you do answering all the questions. Thanks!

Is it a clunk? Mine does it too. Both driveshafts are double cardan and ford makes a kit for rebuilding them. I thought it was just a slip yoke, but it is more complicated with springs and large ball bearings. Good luck with it. Add a zirk fitting so you can keep grease in it if you decide to rebuild it.

Thanks Moto, you pretty much confirmed what the "tranny man" said when I had him take a look at it. He told me not to get to concerned about it right now as it is a very "soft" bump/clunk. Said same thing about having a zirt installed when I have it rebuilt. They said about $2/300. for rebuild--sound right?

I had the same "clunk" that you're describing, and pretty much just either dealt with it or learned to drive in a way to avoid it.

As for the steering box adjustment, I think people say not to adjust it because it really doesn't take a lot to potentially create more slop than what is already there. If you do decide to adjust it, take babysteps in the adjustment. Be sure to note the position of the mesh before changing it.

'Bassplayer'--thanks for the added words of assurance. I'm just going to play the "bump" by ear like everyone suggests. As for the steering I'm going to do likewise, drove a couple of other Bronc and they are worse then "lil foot" by a bunch......thanks to all !
