Hey Guys,

I just changed my air filter on my 1992 5.0 302 EFI and noticed oil on my air filter. I'm wondering if I have bad piston rings or just a bad PCV valve. Could some one direct me to the location of the PCV valve on this engine? Could you please idiot proof it for me since I'm not very engine savy? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

the pcv valve is on the top intake manifold but i dont think the valve is going to cause oil on your oil filter. i would check to check the oil level. there maybe some water in the oil causing oil to come thru the tube thats connected between the oil filler cap and the air box thats the only thing that i can think of.

Normal air flow for the oil fumes emission system is from the intake to the left side valve cover down the drain hole to the sump back up the right side oil drain hole to the right side valve cover through the PCV valve to the intake manifold. If you are getting oil on the air filter then either the system has a restriction in it. Possibilities are; partially plugged drain holes, bad PCV valve, clogged tube from PCV valve to intake manifold or blow by in one or more cylinders pressurizing the sump and causing some oil to be blown back to the intake filter box.

Good luck,

:)>-
