Ohh, kaay. this one is making me scratch my head. 92 FSB, tailgate window stuck down, CONTINUITY TESTS GOOD ALL THE WAY TO THE POWER LEADS GOING TO THE MOTOR (red/yellow)at the connector behind the tailgate access panel. Since the window is down, I cannot reach the motor to verify an "open" circuit issue, although this is what I suspect (no dimming of any lights while jogging switches). MOTOR WILL NOT JUMP. good continuity was verified through jumper leads. Does anyone have a plan "B"? Maybe drilling holes in the inside tailgate above the four window fasteners, etc...? Before anyone says it, I'll say it first...Yeah, I can break the glass...but that's plan "C".

Welcome to the Zone :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

By "motor will not jump", I assume that you mean you tried a set of jumpers from a 12V battery (+) and (-) terminals to the leads going to the motor, and if nothing happened you reversed the leads, right? If that is true, then you either have a bad motor or the gears are chewed up. So how do you get at the motor. Here is a a great link on, all you wanted to know about tailgates but were afraid to ask. http://www.supermoto...ry/2742/12689-2 .

Good luck,

By the way, a charged 12 or 14.4 drill battery will work just fine as a source of voltage for the purposes of jumping the motor.

When I replaced my TG motor, I just lowered the tailgate, then flipped the clips on the latches by hand, making it think the TG was closed. I laid out a saw horse with a folded blanket, removed the TG door, and worked the window out, letting the glass rest on the blanket-covered saw horse. I had help in that my motor partially worked, but I think you can get it out by hand. You can also drill out the rivets that hold the window rollers to the regulator arm, which frees the window completely. I used machine screws to re attach the rollers for ease of later maintainability.

With the window up, and the regulator arm down, the motor is completely accessible for further testing.

Ground?! Oops, forgot the ground lead. Well what do you know.....the motor works (both ways), as does the rear key switch and the latch switch (dash switch suspect). I really appreciate the help, you guys. Especially the grounding issue! Since I have the glass out I think I'll give the tailgate assembly a once-over....regulator & all. It's gonna need all new weather stripping, window bumpers, striker sleeves, new check cables, a new dash switch, and a few extra lock rod clips in my pocket wouldn't hurt. Looks like $200 through JBG. Not bad. I'll start working on it when everyone's home for the weekend, go over my mistakes and the correction, and start final tailgate repairs. Thanks again for all your help. Man! Times like this, I really appreciate the Internet!
