Hey Gang, I'm so new to this whole Bronco thing that I don't even know for sure whether or not a 1988 Bronco is a plain Bronco or Bronco ll? Plus, my starter keeps falling out &/or losing its retainer bolts, especially the top one. I've discovered that both of the bolt holes, especially the top one, are egged out & I was wondering whether anyone has any good ideas on how to best remedy the situation (Bear in mind, when I say 'best', I mean least expensive since I'm currently unemployed).

Any help &/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I'll post pix of my old clunker once I get a camera but suffice to say that it's a six cylinder (2.9, I believe) five speed with about 190k miles on it, two wheel drive. Thanx all, in advance!!

Yours would be a Bronco 2. They are the iddy bitty ones. Assuming you have at least a bit of mechanical smarts, you can get a helicoil kit from your local parts store. That is the easiest fix. Or you can fill the holes with JB weld, then drill and tap them again. Make sure you are working with a very clean surface for the JB weld to stick to.
