Just recently replaced the fuel sending unit - the gage worked perfectly on the first fill-up (showed Full). after about fifty miles the gage showed less than 3/4, after 120 miles it showed less than 1/4. Filled up just to make sure - took less than 10 gal. on the 23 gal tank.

Pulled the sending unit again to check for obstructions on the float arm - works freely. The sending unit only goes in the tank one way - the two tabs on the side ensure this. Have now filled up again twice - it now never goes to full on the gage.

Any thoughts.

Probably bad connections. The readings are based on circuit resistance. Check the contacts inside the connector for corrosion and also tightness. I'd run a separate ground to the black wire. Check the connector in the engine compartment near the left side fire wall also.

Good luck,

:)>-
