Well its not a ZF but i did score a M5od-R2 from a 91 f150 with only 30K miles on it. Transmition transfercase both drivelines the floor plate and shifters. Oh yes the clutch and brake assy.

I may go back for the steering column later. Have to hit the auto parts store for a new flywheel and clutch package. I have opened up the M5od and its very clean inside. So all looks good.

I will take some photos as i go so you all can share my pain. grin..

yo,

OK and thanks! I haven't seen this swap yet anywhere. So, you'll be da first to do it and document it.

I'd like to add the LINK to your post here in my broncolinks.com site, ok?

for Mazda M5OD Info/Tech LINKS, see my site @ http://www.broncolinks.com/index.php?index=57

btw, will the photos be in SuperMotors? or photobcket? I have seen a lot of Photobucket pics disappear later due to users/or site problems.

GL!

Link away.

I was going to put them in my photo bucket will have to look into it.

I managed to pull the C6 and transfer case last night.

Taking the opportunity to change the rear main that leaks way to bad. I also will spend this night cleaning all the oil and dirt that collected in the 23years this poor bronco has been on the road.

Sat. will start the fun job of putting in the newly acquired parts. Will start with the clutch and brake assembly.

Well a slow start to this project. Started with cleaning the M5od and transfercase. When i drained the oil from the m5od it came out black as night and very watery. It should have been ATF and it might have been at one point. So I opened up the m5od to take a look. Not as bad as i feared but I will replace the syncros before installing it in the bronco.

The donor truck was a 91 f150 but and this is a big but it has 92 parts on it. sigh.. This means I had to get tricky to make the pedal assy. work in my 87. When you pull the 87 pedal assy out there is now nothing to hold the steering colum. So I cut the 87 piece in half. Bolted the 92 pedal assy. in place after cutting the clutch hole in my firewall, then mounted the half of the 87 piece to the truck. I then bolted the 2 pieces together. It worked perfectly. no flex in the pedals or steering wheel. While waiting for tranny parts i went ahead and replaced the rear main seal on the motor and cleaned up 22 years of leaking oil and grime.

I will continue the saga when the syncros get here.
