check engine light has been on since I got it running

air tube between the heads is leaking , figured was getting a false reading at the oxy sensor

I dont have a code reader and this is my only vehicle on the road just pulled the engine in my CV to replace gaskets and seals

For the past 2 weeks has ran great, now it idles fine put it in gear drive about a mile and acts like has a rev limiter at 700 rpm

shut it down and good for another mile.

I replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor,no change.

yo!

Pull Codes yourself using our pal BroncoJoe's info;

http://broncozone.com/forums/index.php?sho...amp;#entry74587

Scroll down

Try and get it warmed to norm op temps so you can do both tests; Key On Engine Off (KOEO) and Key On Engine Running (KOER)

Post Codes here for each test; such as:

KOEO - 122, etc.

That leak will cause all kinds of problems. esp the one you have now

How did the plugs looks? were most fouled by over-rich cond?

or could be an ign prob such as da Hall Effect - also ref to as the Profile Ignition Pick-up (PIP) Signal, Stator...

Ok plugs are fouled cleaned them before the tests

KOEO

122

KOER

998

122

my Haynes truck manual is MIA loaned it out before I got the Bronco

do have one for Mustangs and CV's

122 - TPS below minimum voltage

998 -hard fault

with 235k miles and I doubt the throttle body has ever been cleaned

previous owner bought the truck with 50k on it and didn't clean or replace plugs until 200k

yo, ok;

O) =Key On Engine Off test

® =Key On Engine Running test

(M) =Memory code

122 (O,M) TP low (possibly grounded or open circuit) ck connector; then go thru diagnostic routine:

DTCs 121,122,123, 124, 125, OBD II Codes P0122 and P0123 - in TSB 94-26-4

Source: by Ford via miesk5 (Al M) at comcast.net

http://home.comcast.net/~miesk5/technical_...e_bulletins.htm

Besides the general info on DTC 122; this is important;

"CAUTION:

MANY VOLTMETERS WILL AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE RANGES WHEN MEASURING TPS OUTPUT FROM IDLE TO WOT. WHEN A VOLTMETER IS USED TO MEASURE TPS OUTPUT FROM IDLE TO WOT, THE METER SCALES OR CHANGES RANGES AUTOMATICALLY. THERE MAY BE AN ERRONEOUS METER DISPLAY UNTIL THE VOLTMETER HAS LOCKED TO THE APPROPRIATE VOLTAGE READING. THE ERRONEOUS METER DISPLAY DOES NOT REPRESENT A DEFECTIVE TPS.

NOTE: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE "RANGE LOCK" FEATURE ON MANY METERS BE SET FOR CHECKING TPS VOLTAGE.

Use the 0.00 range to measure TPS voltage.

If your voltmeter does not change ranges automatically and the meter is set to millivolt scale when reading full range voltages, the meter display may not indicate a valid value. This can be misinterpreted as an open circuit or suspect TPS. Ensure the meter is set to volts for measuring full range voltage levels..."

Then go to:

-------------

998 ® Did not pass Key On Engine Off test yet (Get 111 in KOEO first)

This is the result of DTC 122; forget it

ok

Maybe some of the connectors on following need inspection since they were "touched" (everytime I disconnect one, haf the time, they seem to cause me grief for weeks)

DTC 332 - Insufficient EGR flow detected. "...Atop the EGR valve there is a sensor called the EVP (EGR Valve Position) sensor. It detects movement of the pintle iside the EGR valve. You can apply vacuum to the vacuum barb on the EGR valve and observe through the holes in the casting whether the valve is moving or not. It may just be dirty which requires some careful scrubbing and NO SOLVENTS. Otherwise, if the EGR valve is functioning and moving when vacuum is applied, the EVP sensor is suspect and the electrical connections to it should be checked first. (Computer needs to know the EGR valve position for emissions control)..."

Source: by greystreak92

EGR Valve Position (EVP) - MIESK5 NOTE: EVP is used on all years except for 95 5.8L California models & all 96, they use the DPFE Sensor instead of EGR Valve Position Sensor (EVP)

DTC 332 & Possible Causes; "...EGR Valve Insufficient EGR Flow; EGR valve sticking closed EGR valve diaphragm leaks; EVR solenoid sticking closed; Loss of vacuum to or from EVR Open in EVR VPWR or driver circuits; Leak or restriction in PFE/DPFE signal hoses..."

More info on EGR is avail from tomco-inc http://tomco-inc.com/techinfo.aspx ; see all Ford EGR Valve Topics
