Ok so i just picked up a 1987 Bronco II Overdrive today from my uncle for free. It wouldn't run for him so he trailered it up to my house. Any way i spent the entire da getting it running. I managed to get it started on ether and it ran for 15 sec.

Several questions and diagnostics that i have:

1) shouldnt the pump make noise when u turn the key?

2) I found that there is no power getting to the tank (could be user error tho)

3) i ran a hot wire back to the tank to test with and nothing worked. touched all the leads and nothing from the pump.

with that bit of info i am left to believe that it is a fuel pump. Any other guesses?

check all your fuses plus im not sure but i think that you might have 2 fuel pumps the high pressure intank fuel pump and the low pressure fuel pump midway under the bronco 2 under the driver side!!!

I had a similar problem recently, after bypassing the motion switch, fuel pump relay, and EEC low output ....the cause was found. A negative wire running from the battery clamp (-) to a plug under the air cleaner box was stretched and pulled loose.

Ionly found it after bypassing the fuel relay (low) output and going around the computer voltage checks...finally discovered the ground to the computer was messed up.

The (-) wires (3) at the battery clamp appear to run to the engine block, frame, and into the harness feeding the EEC.

Good luck

hi well lets see i ran into alot of problems with the motor not gettin gas to it.. well my first problem was the fuel pump intank and the one on the frame.. after that the relays right next to the aircleaner i seem to fry all of them? so i changed those then i had to run a bypass wire for the fuel pump intank.. try the relays its probly the cheapest and easyest if not that drop the tank and replace the fuelpump good luck

if you have fuel injection on yours check the mass air flow sensor (basicly it's a flap with a switch) it is at the first part of the throttle body if it don't read open then no gas will be pumped... also Ive not checked on my bII but i helped a guy get an explorer running that wasn't pumping gas, turned out that there is a impact safety switch with a reset button under the carpet on the passenger side floor board near the fire wall (inside cab) that fixed it. let us know what you find.
