Hello, I have a 1993 Ford Bronco that has a front bench seat. I removed the front bench seat and going to order these http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-18704-corbeau-baja-ss-seat-black-vinyl-center.html. They are Corbeau Baja SS single bucket seats. They sell the seat tracks separately to fit the Corbeu seats. My question is, do I need to get the factory seat tracks for my specific truck OR go ahead and get the Corbeau seat tracks and mount them onto the floor boards? Here are the tracks they sell: http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-37513-89-95-bronco-driver-seat-bracket.html. Would it be easier to get the factory seat tracks for my bronco and then get the corbeau seats? Will the factory seat tracks work for the corbeau seats? OR would it be easier getting the corbeau seat tracks for that specific seat? Would that seat track work for my Bronco specially? Does it matter?

Any advice will help!

Hey SV, Welcome

The seat tracks from Broncograveyard, should be an easy bolt in.

It's harder to mount seats to tracks not made for them.

If the mounts don't mate up perfect, you can always drill the floor, and bolt them in. Just reinforce the floor with strong fender washers.

Good Luck

yo SteelVenom,

As RON Advised.

I agree buying the tracks so that you will have the flip forward feature needed for folks to get into back seat as well as safety concerns.

Here is a Corbeau Installation () in a 90; he wrote elsewhere; "...I also no longer have the bronco I installed those seats in. No idea on the size, but they were great seats and very comfortable. I am about 5 9 and 200lbs. install was easy. I used the frame/bracket from the OEM seats and just tossed the factory ***** red ones after I was done. I plan on trying to get the one with the arm rest though. Mine did not have arm rests and I wished after driving them for a while that they did. I also got the reclining kind and was glad I did. It's be a huge pain getting in the back without that feature..."

Excerpt; "...four bolts hold it down, the hard part is the angle on the front. I needed and extension bc I could not get enough movement in my ratchet. Otherwise, piece of cake..."

Flor Pan; check for rusted section(s) where seat track bolt holes are located; repair as needed

ANYWAYS, it all ended up being OVER my price range. Does anyone know of any websites with affordable seats with everything you need?

so far all i'm seeing is universal seat buckets that don't come with brackets and no information on if they will mount on stock brackets or if they need brackets specialized for the seats or adapters or anything. I've been searching for quite a while, I didn't think it would be this complicated to get seats.

Hey SV,

I have been looking for many months for seat brackets, for my S10....nothing there either. Talk with the old rodders, and they all say you have to fire up the welder, or open the wallet.

I used to weld up what I needed. I would have thought that there is so much on the aftermarket now that it would be easy to get any type of seat tracks/ brackets, but that is not the case.

If the seat manufacturers would agree on a universal dimention, I bet a manufacturer of brackets would pop up in a few months.

In the past I did have a trick for old "Rat Rod" stuff. I would mount the seats to 3/4" plywood and mount that to the seat brackets.

Used heavy fenderwashers, and strong bolts. Wasn't always pretty, but I have covered the plywood and it worked well.

Good Luck

I found some cheap nice looking universal bucket seats. they come only with the sliders, no brackets. my question IS, should I just buy the stock brackets that came in the bronco and mount the seats to them? will universal seats mount on the stock brackets? or do they need some kind of specialized bracket.

Buying the stock brackets make it easy to bolt the seats to the floor. After that it's up in the air. "Universal" usually means that the seat tracks are flat....not formed for any one particular vehicle. You will still need to mock things up and see what fits. You may get away with just a bolt up or there may be some fabrication needed. It's hard for anyone here to say if something will definetly fit, as there is no knowing the placement of bolt holes, or lengths, etc. But no worries.....just be patient.

I find seat fitment the most fun and the most agravating. Don't be afraid to jump into it. Worst case is you can't make anything fit and sell what you got on Ebay or Craigs. Most likely you will find a way to get things to work.

Good Luck

yo,

As Ron advised; nearly all seats will need fab work.

See my site @ http://www.broncolinks.com/index.php?index=312 for a few seat swap examples;

such as:

King Ranch pics in a 95; ".. from early to mid 2000 F150. The front seat mount bends lined up very well with the curve of the Bronco's floor ..the only bitch was the front passenger as I had to cut the front left mount as the the transmisson **** is further over on that side. Then re drill a hole further back on the seat mount to mount it to the floor. Each front seat has six grade 8 bolts and washers securing it to the floor ( the 2 middle bolts have a metal spacer tube between the seat frame and floor as it is raised higher than the front and rear) with a 3" square metal plate/washer underneath the bottom of the floor that acts as a washer for each bolt. I the used silicone on each nut and plate to ensure that the bolts were water proof. The rear seats have 6 bolts as well with the same securing and sealing underneath. The rear seats are mounted a little further back. so the passengers have more leg room. You also have to mount the seats at the angle you want them to sit in ad they are not adjustable. I used the factory seat belt mounts in the front as i felt the were more secure than the ones on the seat and bought 2 more front floor mount seat belt attachments and used them in the rear so the shoulder belts could be used. The rears folds forward but not 100% flat...maybe 80%..."

Installation Info (93-95 Lightning); "...I used the 93-95 Lightning seats in the bronco. I had to reuse the tracks from the bronco becuase the Lightnings seats were never meant to slide forward like the broncos because they were mounted to a steel frame that went accross the entire truck.. I simply bolted the bronco seats on at the front of the tracks from the bronco then re-drilled the rear locations to match the lightning seats holes..."

thank you all for the info and advise! these are the seats i was planning to order, BUT the customer service people are ******** and can't tell me if they will mount on stock brackets or if they need specialized brackets or adapters. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Universal-Fit-JDM-Black-T-R-Style-Red-Stitch-Racing-Bucket-Seats-Sliders-VT13-/390450335723?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222001%26algo%3DSIC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D1160671499830354097%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26#ht_8650wt_1122

I guess I'll go ahead and order the stock brackets that came in the bronco separate and hope that these seats will mount on them fine?

Has anyone installed universal seats on a 1993 Ford Bronco? How did that go? Was it direct bolt in or was there any kind of fabrication or welding required? Any information will be helpful! Also, does anyone know where I can find seat brackets for my bronco?

I looked at the info on the seats you were considering. They show some vehicles that they are "compatable" with. That should mean that they will bolt up to the stock brackets without modification.

Any aftermarket seat has two slides to allow them to move back and forth. Those slides have to be bolted to brackets that then bolt to the floor of the vehicle, or get bolted directly to the floor.

The question is are the seats going to fit to the brackets without modification?

Unfortunatly that is something that has to be answered by you. There is no way to tell without getting the seats and getting into it.

If you have any fabricating skills you can do this. Sometimes it's a matter of adding some square or "L" steel across the brackets, and drilling holes to bolt the seats to.

Unfortunately I know of no universal kits to allow any seat to be a "bolt in"

Good Luck

Does anyone know of any seat brands that have specified brackets for the seat? not universal? would be easier getting a seat that has it's own bracket.
