I was wondering if anyone thought that it was possible to make your own soft top??? I recently bought a 1994 XLT.

A friend of mine is a welder so we could make a roll-bar type frame for it. I was thinking that with the right vinyl we could make one ourselves. The windows could be placed in by using industrial strength velcro. I figure that we could bolt it in using the bolts for the hard top, and make a few of our own if need be.

Has anyone done this before or just not think it is possible? Let me know what you think. What kind of vynyl should be used?

it is for sure possible, you just have to have a sturdy enough design as to not give the material you use overdue stress. try to find stuff like they use for convertible tops

Like miesk said...use a boat canvas for the material. I read about doing this myself. Also zippers being used instead of velcro if you wanted to go that route.
