My E4od instantly goes into 4th(OD) after it shifts from 2nd. It seams like it wand to go into 3rd but the rpms drop as it goes into OD.

Say if im going say 40-45mph,the tach will be at 1-1200rpm

PSOM calibrated,tps good,no codes.

It goes into OD no matter if the switch is on or off.

I'm hoping this is a electrical problem, but I have been calling yards for trans prices.

yo,

Tis will be difficult to diagnose correctly from here.

One possibility;

Un-plug da solenoid connector (pass side of the trans) & ck for fluid; if so, clean it up and re-connect and test drive

Coast Clutch Solenoid (CCS) 7M107:

The Coast Clutch Solenoid provides coast clutch control by shifting the coast clutch shift valve. The solenoid is activated by pressing the transmission control switch or by selecting the 1 or 2 range with the transmission gearshift selector lever. In manual 1 and 2, the coast clutch is controlled by the solenoid and also hydraulically as a fail-safe to ensure engine braking. In reverse, the coast clutch is controlled hydraulically and the solenoid is not on. NOTE: On certain applications, the coast clutch is controlled by the PCM in the overdrive position (TCS OFF) in gears 1, 2, and 3.

Symptoms: Failed on Third gear engine braking with (D) range selected. Failed off No third gear engine braking in overdrive cancel.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes: 626,* 628,** 643,* 652,* P0741,** P0743,* P1754.*

(*Output circuit check, generated only by electrical conditions. **May also be generated by other non-electronic related transmission hardware condition.)

Thanks for the help miesk, I will check that as soon as I can.

So I take that it is an electrical problem and not an internal trans problem?

yo 92,

If that connector is clean and harness/wiring to to it is ok, there is most likely internal damage.

As far as the Codes; did you do both the KOEO = Key On Engine Off & KEY ON ENGINE RUNNING (KOER)?

w/KOEO portion first

& Remember to have engine @ Normal Operating Temperature before doing the KEY ON ENGINE RUNNING (KOER) portion

Is that Transmission Control Indicator Light (Overdrive) blinking?

Yes i pulled codes and only got 334,173.

My Od light is not blinking.

Could the PSOM also be a problem?

Well I looked at the connector and it wasnt to bad. cleaned it up and put dielectric grease on it and took it for a spin.

It was doing great at first,I though my problem was cured. As my temps heated up,and my motor starts surging at idle,it started acting up again. Could the surging affect my 3rd gear?

Looked up my codes and someone suggests cleaning out the egr. What exactly do I clean?

yo 92,

We may have a possible solution to this

DTC 172, 173 or 41 for HO2S Failure, in POSSIBLE LOCATIONS OF WIRING SHORTS TSB 95-2-11 for 92-95 Bronco & F Series; "the HO2S wires in the 12A690 (subassembly of the 14B060 battery cable) harness may be cut on the lower right engine mount causing improper signals to be sent to the PCM. Damage may be under the electrical tape..." SEE TSB 95-5-21 for Detailed Info Source: by Ford via Chilton

These "improper signals" to the PCM could possibly be sent on to the tranny from the PCM.

Fuse "E" Inoperative could exhibit any one of the following conditions: ABS Light On, Back-Up Lamps Inoperative, DRLs Inoperative, MIL On, Speedometer Inoperative, DTC 172, 173 or 41 for HO2S Failure in TSB 95-5-21 for 92-95 Bronco & F Series; On some vehicles the HO2S wires in the 12A690 (subassembly of the 14B060 battery cable) harness may become chafed READ MORE Source: by Ford via Chilton

DTC 334 EGR (EVP) closed valve voltage higher than expected; "...Failed sensor, & as by rla2005 (Randy) wrote; carbon between EGR pintle valve and seat holding the valve off its seat. Remove the EGR valve and clean it with carbon remover. Prior to re-installing see if you can blow air through the ****** side of the EGR by mouth. the egr is not closing properly which can cause detonation. remove the egr and clean off any carbon built up on it with carb cleaner and a brush if necessary.

The EGR Valve Position (EVP) Sensor used exclusively by Ford, can be the cause of driveability problems without ever setting any trouble codes. The relationship between the EVP sensor and the EGR valve is important to understand. Either one being out of spec can cause similar symptoms. Understanding this relationship will help you to diagnose uncoded driveability problems like stumbles, hesitations, rough idles and stalling.

Failed sensor, carbon between EGR pintle valve and seat holding the valve off its seat. Remove the EGR valve and clean it with carbon remover. Prior to re-installing see if you can blow air through the ****** side of the EGR by mouth. If it leaks, there is carbon stuck on the pintle valve seat, replace the EGR valve.

Read through this for now by TOMCO; it is for 34 but is sim. to 334... you'll need a hand op. vac. pump and DVOM; also some long thin straight pins to backprobe harness connectors.
