lift question???????

i am currently running a 4" superlift. i want to put 6" on it, so my question is.....what do i need to leave and what i need to change? i have all the drop brackets for the 4" , and i am assuming, the brackets will work(they have another hole 2" below the 4" holes. what about the radius arm drops.need those? what about the caster camber bushings? i guess i will have to change the shocks too? what about the pitman arm, change it too? would it be cheaper to just order the 6" lift and compare or order the parts individually? just wanted another opinion on whats what.....thanks, j w

I called Superlift about a month ago with the same question. I too have a 4" that I want to upgrade to 6. They said the same drop pitman arm is used for both the 4 and 6" lifts as well as the same radius arm drop brackets. As far as castor, it depends on your Bronco and how everything lines up. My Bronco aligned fine after the 4" lift without any new bushings or adustments needed. You'll need to get new coils or opt for 2" coil spacers for the front and add-a-leaf to the rear if you want to keep the block, if that is what your kit came with. I'm pitching the blocks on the rear to put in a shackle flip, which will give me about 4.5" and then I'm going to add a leaf to that to get the full 6".

that sounds good, now......what bout the shocks? what are you gonna do bout them? i already installed the caster/camber bushings in mine so i hope they will work out too. i think i will just add a leaf to the rear and live with it. i doesnt see alot of off roading anyway, after all, the wife drives it more than i do. thanks, for the input and looking forward to more.....thanks, j w

Yes, you will want new shocks, especially if you do wheel it some and flex the suspension. Where I wheel I flex the mess out of my Bronco and have bent both of my front coils to the point where they dented the shocks up front. There was a Jeep in my club that put in a lift without changing the shocks and as soon as he had a tire off the ground all the weight transferred to the shock to hold the axle up and it pulled apart. You might be able to get by without shocks for a little while for street driving, but I wouldn't do that for long.

hey the shocks are the same also. i called rocky mtn. offroad today(superlift dealer)and they advised me that the shocks are the same. all i need is the coils and whatever i want to do with the rear(add a leaf). looking at my shock, it appears to be only about 1/4 of theway extended. so it has plenty of shock left. maybe, mine has single shocks in the front is the difference??????not sure.....but things sure are looking up for me, for once. tires are on the way too, so im on a roll......what could be better??????9"rear? oh yeah thats on the list for the next project!!!!then maybe a straight axle????who knows????only time will tell....until then, thanks, and wish me luck!!!!!jw

Hey I also have a 4 inch lift that is going up to a 6 inch. For the front I am using spring buckets out of an E-250 econoline van because they r shorter and should raise it up 2inches and for the back i am using add a leafs. I am about to start tearing everything apart because I am swapping the IFS for a straight axle. So if i get it donebefore u do yours and you have any questions i will be glad to answer them for you and share info on easier ways to do things.

cool....my straight axle will be awhile. i will try the indepentdent stuff first. i already have the front axle here. only problem, i can see with a 9 inch rear is, i have the speed sensor in the 8.8 and my 9 inch doesnt have it, so my speedo and antilocks aint gonna work......question to me.....do i really need them anyway? i have already replaced 1 8.8 and dont wanna do it again. to be so weak, they sure are expensive too. you should get your straight axle in before me, but my 6 inch coils will be here the first of the week, and they will be on soon as the box gets here!!!!! i appreciate the help too. thanks, j w

with the 9" you can get a transfer case kit from curt de luc (le duc?) raceshop in california so your factory speedometer will work with any rear axle.
