Hallo,

close to my Bronco i owned a F150 Styleside, with has an early AOD Tranny in.

I wonder the car woudn´t run, so i take a look under the car and was very surprised, that the kickdown arm wasn´t there.

I know, that the arm is nesseary to shift the gears. Alls Internetsites says, there is no other way.

O.K.

When i bouth the car from a guy, he dont told me about this "problem".

So my question: AOD have diffend types of Arms. The repair manual says that was is on the foto.

Any idea if is that the right one? Where can i get one?

Please read my introduction an: sorry for my bad english. I´m german.

Robert,

Is this for the 1986 Bronco?

AOD Parts Break-Out Diagram w/Nomenclature Source: by tcsproducts.com

is it 138- THROTTLE LEVER (OUTER)?

134- MANUAL LEVER

& look @ http://ylobronc.users.superford.org/documents/shiftlinkage.html

by Chris B

Throttle Valve (TV) Linkage & Adjustment; "...AOD’s use a TV (throttle valve) linkage on the left side that is hooked to the carburetor or throttle body with a cable or rod. Setting the TV (throttle pressure) cable is a crucial adjustment for the AOD but it’s not hard to do..."

Source: by Kenneth C at http://www.badshoeproductions.com/trans.html

Now after you can see what part it is; someone here can look for it and give you a source that will ship to Germany or has a store there.

Some use the Lokar Ford AOD Universal Kickdown Kit PDF file

Thanks for your answer.

No it is NOT for the bronco. The 1986 has a TV cable that works fine. It is for the "stepside"...maybe Ford calld it Styleside? Whats the diffrend to the Flareside? Inner and outer Fenders?

I will look for all the links and give you a comment.

The Kickdownarm is taken by a rod, like other Trannys in the early 80´.

will be back soon, after searching....

So i read all the links.

1st: is not a good quality and shows not the part i looking for. i thinl, my pic shows it better.

2nd: badshoes is well known in germany over youtube. i didnt know, that he has a site. thx for the link.

3rd: YES, it could be the solution if i dont find the right part.

All books an Internetpictures shows for the early tranny the same pic, similar to my pic. So i think, it mus be the right one.

I also search in ebay for a lokar kit and find one here.

here

A little bit expensive - but Mustangunltd. is a pharmacy... with prices like a p.... [-X

I found that

Thanks for comments, and hope you can imagin what i mean...

...from the other side of the "great lake"...

yo,

So far, I haven't found a linkage for sale. But I will look around for it in various stores that will ship.

Throttle Valve (TV) Cable Adjustment & Diagrams; Using a 100 psi pressure gauge to the TV port on transmission & with engine off Source: by Ford via Steve83 (Steve, That dirty old truck) at SuperMotors.net

Ford specs; 7. Push on the slider from behind the bracket until the TV pressure is 33 psi. While still holding the slider, push down on locking tab as far as it will go, locking slider in position.

NOTE: An increase of 1-2 psi is possible when transmission is shifted from NEUTRAL to a forward gear. This is considered normal and no compensation should be made.

8. Remove gauge tool, allowing cable to return to its normal idle position. With the engine still idling in neutral, TV pressure must be at or near zero (less than 5 psi). If not, reinstall gauge tool. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 but set the TV pressure to a pressure lower than previously set but not less than 26 psi. Remove gauge tool and recheck TV pressure to determine if it is at or near zero.

Thanks for your reply.

I had contact to PACT, LA, witch send me a TV lever this week.

At this wekend i make a lever by myself and "play a little bit with the adjusting at the rod linkage.

Sorry, no pics´, camera was at home.

What should i say?

It works. not as it shoult (or what i think, what it should), but it shifts´ all 3 gears.

2nd comes a little bit hard, 3rd come smooth... If the OD works, i couldnt find out, because the truck isnt street legal at the moment, so a longer drive wasnt possible.

If interest here, i will post some pics later this week.

Have a nice week,

robert

OK, Weekend is over and i have new pics.

First: It shows the "helping" lever arm, witch i had made by myself.

It works, but the tranny shifts a little rough.

6869713dmu.jpg

I adjust it "out of my left arm" :-" after a couple of test drives. A little bit higher, a little bit lower.

Come the 3rd gear too late, a little bit higher on the rod, next time a little bit lower.

Yes, I know: only a exact adjusted Transmission could shift right. But the new lever arm is "on the road to me" from PATC, Louisanna.

Next Week, on easter, i have a little bit more time to use a manometer to find the right shift points. Hopefully with the lever arm.

First, i have to move from one apartement to the new one, after that, i hope i find the time to "*****" on the car.

The other pics are from today right out the garage from my friend, where the PU is standing. He restores Cadillacs and Lincolns and is a helpfull friend in many problems.

I can borrow a manometer from a friend, that will help. He use it for his 84 Suburban Diesel. It is not easy to find a manometer with UNF; in Germany all srews have metric Threads.

Thanks for your replyes and you understand what i will say....

to be continued...
