Hi everyone, I just picked up a 79 that had a little "car-b-q" and needs some work to be roadworthy. The rubber fuel line to the carb leaked onto the manifold/distributor, and pretty much messed up everything in the vicinity. I've already cleaned-up the top end of the motor, which wasn't that bad (although getting the dist off was kind of a bear). My next order of business is to find an OEM harness at a junkyard, as most of the wiring in the engine compartment is trashed. If I can't find anything, I plan on going through Ron Francis for a complete kit (the rest of the wiring looks marginal at best). I've also got to rebuild the carb, and get some new tune-up components and belts and hoses. But it should be on the road in a couple months at the latest for less than $2k total (including the thousand-dollar purchase price).

About the truck: It has a 400M/C6, with Dana 44/Ford 9" axles, quad shocks, manual hubs, and 33 gallon gas tank. Right now, it is white with green interior (which I actually kind of like), although I plan on going black on black in the future. It also has a 6" lift with 33" x 10.5" BFGs on white 15s. The body is pretty good save the front drivers side fender and grille area, which are dinged-up.

I've always been a Chevy guy (owned a '71 Nova since I was 15), but I've always loved first-gen Broncos and was looking for one on craigslist when I found this - which seems to be a steal.

I don't have any good pics of the truck at this point, but I'll toss 'em in when I load them onto my photobucket account (http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m235/hookemdevils22/Bronco/).

Wow... a fire sale special eh?

"car-b-q" that's cute :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

She'll look a LOT better once you get all that dry chemical off her.

I hope that the wiring harness install goes easily for you.

Good luck, and Welcome!
