Hi, I have a beat up 1987 bronco ll and when i try to start it i get nothing. When you turn the key half way you get the lights and radio. When you try to start it everything shuts off, It doesnt even try to turn over and everything wont turn back on till you remove the key and try again. I though it was the battery, I replaced the battery with a different one (not entirely sure its good) and the same thing happened. Have not been able to jump it, have to wait till monday.

Any help what so ever would be great.

Thanks

sounds like your classic bad ground/poor connection/low voltage issue. I'd start by removing both battery cable from the battery & cleaning both the cable ends & the terminals with a battery cleaning tool. After that carefully check the connections to the starter solenoid. Since you don't know how good your replacement battery was that's still a question mark. Could be either low voltage or a dead cell involved. Try a brand new battery or one that's freshly charged.
