I'm trying to put a shorter pipe in my intake. I have a cone filter on it but its using all the stock plumbing. I want to shorten the tube that runs from where the two pipes going to the throttle body connect into one, all the way to the filter. The problem I'm having is the small plug that goes before the mass flow sensor. What is that small plug? Do I need it? I unplugged it but the truck idles strange, but drives fine. The mass flow sensor will stretch as far as I want it to to add a shorter pipe, however that little plug does not. This is why i am trying to discard it. Thanks for any tips ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I believe you are talking about the intake air temperature sensor.Yes you need it, it tells the computer what the intake temperature is so it can make adjustments to the fuel mixture. It also lets the computer know if it needs to recirculate hot gasses into the intake when the engine is cold, similar to the old heat riser function.

Good luck,

:)>-

The temp sensor does not have to be in the intake air flow. I can be mounted in a protected spot [so it dont get smashed or dirty] and work fine.
