I have a 95 white Bronco. It has the usual rot around the rear wheel wells. I was wondering what to do with the inner sheet metal that has rotted away. I'm not really too sure how to fix that? Do I just get new sheet metal shape it and weld it in or is there a better solution?

thanks guys

You didn't say how bad your rust was. The Beast had rust through on both rear wheel wells, but no spot was larger than about the size of a dime.

I ground out the rust and welded patches over the spots, (they were all concentrated in a small area.)

If yours is similar that is the easiest way to go. Weld the patches, prime paint and then cover with some spray undercoating. NOTE You have to remove the carpeting and any insulation from around the area where the welding heat could cause it to smolder, or catch fire.

GOOD LUCK.

One thing that most rust forms because of the gaps created by the original spot welding of inner to 1/4 panel along arch's lip; most body shops now use body adhesives instead of apot welds when replacing the inner & 1/4 to avoid the gap between the welds.

Wow! Just saw the pics of your rotted wheel wells....OUCH

Way more than I thought. Pannels and tubs look in order. Unless you want to cut out the rust, fireup the welder, and tack in some sheetmetal between the inners and the quarter. Then add some aftermarket fender flairs.

Good Luck
