How do you remove the ignition switch from a 69 bronco? The diagram I have shows it having a spring on the back and two tabs which twist out of slots. I don't seem to be able to get the bezel to turn. Also the reason I am checking the switch is that when I try and crank the truck I am only getting a spark when the key is turned on then again when its turned off. As long as I am cranking it, it will not fire. Any suggestions? Thanks for any assistance anyone can share. TW

Hi Tony..,

When the time comes to remove key switch., disconnect the batt. so as not to short connectors & wires under dash while moving it around under there.

Turn key switch to Acc. then insert a paper-clip end, or the like, into that little hole (near keyhole) & turn key further counter clockwise...key cylinder should then pull out.

The bezel can now be removed.

With no history of starting issue., hook your voltmeter to the + side of the coil. Turn key to "ON" there should be voltage. Turn key to "start" there should be voltage.

There should be no voltage with key off.

Run a jumper wire fr. + batt. to + on coil. If it starts/runs you've isolated the problem.

(wiring issues or key-switch)

Eng. will not shut off with the key.... jump. wire will need to be disconnected.

 Thanks so much. I'm sure youve solved my problem. I have been trying to remove the bezel with the tumbler still in the switch. That must be the problem. Thanks so much. TW
