got back to the house the other day and my truck wouldn't shut off. the key switch felt loose. got a new tumbler and same problem. it will start but won't shut off. pulled the positive cable off the batt. to work onit and as soon as i hook it up the dash lights, od come right on. even if the key is off. i pulled the shrouds off to look around. nothings loose or broken. i read some posts in this forum and checked the accuator rod and its moving fine. i'll double check to make sure the teeth are in the spot but it seems like its something else. need some help

The tumbler switch does not actually have any electrical connections, it operates a push rod that goes to the actual ignition switch on top of the steering column. That switch could be loose or missadjusted. The push rod may not be properly connected or broken at the steeering wheel end allowing you to move the ignition switch to the start position but not being able to pull the ignition switch out of the run position. A spring in the ignition switch returns the ignition switch from start to run but the rod must move it back to off.

Good luck,

:)>-

Hello Seabronc,

I'm having the same problem that Kelly had.

I've been searching all over for a solution, and you have been

the only one that knows about it.

I read everything you wrote and it sounds exactly what I'm going throw.

My question is, how do I go about getting to the rod to adjust, and how

do I tell if it's broken or not?

I also noticed the the switch I took out had the piece or copper kinds of raise up,

and my new one was flat.

Is this how it hooks to the rod?

Is there any where you know of where I can get a picture of how it all fits together.

Thank you for any help you may offer.

Norm...
