I have a broken ignition actuator, I have removed the old one but I am having problems installing the new one. It has the long shaft on it attached to the semi circle part and it will not fit into the sleeve down the column due to another metal part on the column. I can't see anyway of seperating the pieces, is there a secret? I know this is a pretty typical problem. The help is much appreciated.

Matt,

Not having done it myself, I don't know what the problem is, however here is a pictorial of how one user installed a new one. Maybe he came accross your same issue and solved it.
