i have a 78 and had the seal on the driver side rear go out so i went for the whole new bearing and seal and took it to the shop to have it put in and while it was in there i had them go ahead and do the pinion seal so there would be no leaks after they got into it they called and told me it was full of mud and that i should get a new rear end because it was most likely not the bearing humming maybe i should have had them stop but the guy said keep changing the oil every week or so and it may or may not stop so i had them finish and I'm going to give it a try but does anyone think it will work ? or have any ideas

if you got mud/dirt in there you probably have done soem damage, if you change the oil alot you prob will wash all the mud and whatnot out, if i were you i would change the oil everyday for a week and add some lucas in there to help quiet it up.

"A little dirt never hurt" is what I like to say... Wash it out like 89 said and keep on truckin'. I hate shops because they allways want you to do this or that instead and spend more money... Arseholes...
