hey guys, i got a 93 bronco, ive had my amp/sub installed in my truck for a while but its been on the back seat, yeah thats ending today...i wanna run it so the box/amp/sub are in the cargo area, but one problem...how the **** can i run my power wire from my batter to the back? before i ran it across the firewall to the drivers side and in, but i cannot do that now since it would take upp too much of the wire i have enough wire to reach if i can just find a spot on the passenger side firewall to put it through? any ideas?

Hmm..

grouding it is easy. Find a bolt on the frame, and put the wire between the nut and the bolt and tighten it back down. You couuld also try grounding the wire to the lock bracket that the center of the backseat snaps into. Though, those are huge bolts. Another option that may be easier, put the back seat forward and that will allow you to gain access to the four bolts that keep the back seat in place. If I remeber correctly, they are 1/2" bolt heads. Loosen one side up, put the wire between the seat bracket and body, wraped around the bolt, then bolt it all back down again. This should be a good ground as well.

Remember, when wrapping wire around a bolt, bolts turn clockwise (tighten)..so make sure you wrap your cable counter-clockwise around the bolt..this will allow the cable to stay in place as you tighten the bolt down.

Yeah, I unfortantly broke the head off a bolt on mine too. Unfortantly I just have three bolts to secure the seat. But that should be good enough.. I wouldn't push it on the one side tho. LOL I'd try all three of them, starting with the side that have two bolts and toy with them

If thaat doesn't work out too satisfactorily for you, you can run a ground lead the same size as your power lead from the battery directly back to the system.

Good luck,

:)>-

coolio, do you have carpet in the Bronco? There might be a place where you can pull it up, and bolt to the floor. How did you run the power wire fro mthe battery to the back? above the floor, under the carpet? Iask this because the P.O. of my 84 Bronco had the amp, CO, EQ, and CB mounted in the center console, with the poweer wire run under the carpet on the passenger side. Part of that wire ran right under my feet when in the pass. seat, and over the years it wore thru. When it got to the point of grounding out to the floorpan and blowing fuses, that part of the wire welded to the floor and burnt a bit of the carpet. I only found that out when I bought the Bronco and pulled out thte carpet so I could fab the rollcage. JSM84

yo JSM!

Here is a compiliation of ideas for running wires/tubing electric trains, etc thru da Bronco;

Locations to route new wiring, tubing for gauges, etc.

with auto tranny; Clutch Blank Location pic (to route new wiring, tubing for gauges, etc.) for 92-96 Source: by Froggmann (Ken P) at froggmann.com

Driver's Side Location pic (to route new wiring, tubing for gauges, etc.) in a 91 Source: by California Monkey (Richard, Mama Cass) at SuperMotors.net

Under the carpet on the passeger side, there is an inlet out let for whatever you may need to run" by Pete H

--

`Then I run it (tuck it in) under the driver or pass side kick panel; pull up threshold plate. under that... then under carpet/mat to side panels (remove them or tuck wires.

actually there was a little room inbetween the front passenger fenderand the door...so i ran the power wire through there a and drilled a little hole where the passegener door bolts up and just caulked it after feeding the wire through, yes the wire is run under the plastics and carpet to the back i dont rlly plan on having this sub/amp very long so i think she will be fine...plus iam in florida the rusty road days are over for her finally

Those bolts are a PITA.. I removed my back seat all together.

You could pull up the carpet (or just cut a small square out) and drill a hole..then just use a bolt and washer to keep it secured and tight down. But like I said, just make sure you don't drill through anything important..

Or if you want to do it right fully, drill a hole just big enough for the ground wire, run the wire through the hole, drill a hole in the frame (or if you're lucky to find a bolt) and just do the same, nut/bolt/washer and secure it to the frame. Use silicone around the bolt (if you bolt to the frame) or on the bolt and connection if you do it to the floor.

Yes, thatwould be the proper way rather tha nto the seat latch assly. My point was not to put the wire in any heavytraffic area where it can get stepped on and short out. I always wondered what that "cracklin' noise in the speakers" was. Lol, we both knew it was a short but it took awhile to find the problem. I ended up ripping out everything, including the old amp and speakers. mostly due to the high probability of theft, wsince I went *******.

The most common setup I've seen is to hide the power amp under the rear seat, and wire it to the sub box or single sub under one front seat. IF you can find the right routing, run the wire UNDER the floor from the battery to a spot close to your amp, with an inline fuse. Better yet would be run a switch and relay, both to protect the amp and the speakers. If your amp is mounted to the sub box, I would still try to find a nearby hole in the floor to run the majority of the wire underneath. But if you're satisfied with the routing now and it's not in the way of entry into the front seats, just get that good ground like already stated. Any chance of a pic or two? JSM84
