My '89 full size (XLT) is all of a sudden having horn problems. Push the horn and all you hear is a "click" coming from somewhere around the glove box area..I have checked the fuse and it is ok. Could it be a relay (?) and where is it and how do I get to it.? Thanks everyone..........

You have a horn relay just to the right of your foot under the dash. It has a metal cover, generally silver or dull gold in color. You might want to clean up the area between the horn mount and the radiator support. That is the ground is where the horn gets it's ground as well as the connector on the horn. From there it is just a strait shot back to the relay, (well not exactly strait, there are a couple of connectors), but the color code is the same all the way through.

Good Luck,

:)>-

The click you hear when you press the horn pad IS the relay doing its job. Sounds to me like you probably have a consern with the horn itself. Have someone press the horn pad while you with test light or meter in hand check to see if you have 12v at the horn connector. If you got 12v there then you have a bad horn or a bad ground between the horn and the rad support. Remove horn, sand the surfaces, bolt horn back,on hook up wire, and check the horn for proper operation. Works ? great! Dont works ? need new horn.
