I'm a mechanic on the side and I'm working on a 1983 F150 that I swapped a 302 for a 351 because it seized. The truck has a new ignition box, distrib cap and rotor, plug wires, spark plugs and new coil from the 302. Still no spark. The engine is TDC and battery is charged, where do I go from here, some wiring and vacuum ports are not connected, does anyone have pics or a diagram of igntion wiring? Or anything I overlooked?

Make sure your ground strap is connected and secure. Other than rechecking all of the wiring, that is my best advise. Is it a OEM ignition box or a/m?

By grounding strap, do you mean negative battery cable? Because that is frayed beyond all belief and I'm insatlling a new one tomorrow. The ignition box is OEM and the wiring harnass needs to be replaced.

There should be a ground strap from the engine block to the firewall. It should be on one of the bolts that bolts the trans to the block. If that is missing it will not get spark.

Good luck, Dennis

Well, I think the wiring harness that connects from the ignition box to the distributor is really screwed up, frayed wires, spade plugs, electrical tape, etc.
