Does anyone know how to take the proper steps to remove an ac compressor and replace it with a new one? I'm about to do this job. It seems easy but never done it before so just wanted to ask and see if anyone has done this before so I can know what kind of things to watch out for.

If you are doing it properly, the main thing to do is to pump down the freon. I'm sure you can handle the mechanical part of disconnecting and installing a new compressor. I would have someone who has the proper equipment do the pump down and recharging the system. That way you will know that it is charged and running properly. Those store canisters don't measure the pressure on both the high and low sides of the system.

Good luck,

:)>-

Always replace the accumulator, and oreaface tube when replacing the compressor. Most manufactures, even rebuilts won't honor warranties if they are not also replaced.

Know what oil to add and measure the oil from the old compressor. DO NOT REUSE IT!

Add about 1/2 oz. more than what drained out. Add it to the accumulator, and **** all "O" rings with refrig. oil.

If you're friendly with a repair shop that can evac the system, they may be willing to store any freon and recharge at a discount.

Good Luck
