So against what i was told. I installed hedman long tubes headers and flow masters on my 96 :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> now im in limp home mode. (its like skip home mode) all 3 o2 sensors disconnected. I know the after cat dont matter much. but I need the ones in the manifold. So i got a few ideas. Im wondering what you guys would do. I'd like to extend wires for sensors down to collectors , but i heard it changes the sensor readings. How much? Or can i get away with sticking the sensor in the closest tube. And only read one cylinders o2. I hate the obd11 and wish i could just retro it back to pre obd11. Any ideas.

Hey Tough,

You would be opening a big can of worms trying to go back to a pre OBD11 setup. All the sensors and controls for timing, fuel, air data etc, are mapped for OBD11.

If you put the O2s in just 1 runner you will most likely have a problem because they will sence only the occational, (relatively) exhaust pulse, rather than a steady stream.

The collectors could be a good solution. Or go to the shorty headers with the **** already in.

Summit makes an O2 sensor overide that gives a steady pulse reading with the correct mixture. (It is supposed to be for off road only...wink, wink) That, I would use for the 3rd O2 only.

Good Luck

Thx for your input Ron. i looked up the summit fakie sensor and your right, those are perfect for the after cat sensor. I've decided to try to read from the collectors. Im going to try to pull out the o2 sensor wiring out of the harness to see if it could be rerouted closer. If thats a fail, ill need to add wire to extend. Has anybody got any insight on this.

Ron is right, You need the sensors for all that in the correct spots..When I put long tubes on my 87 suburban at the time, I bought the weld in **** from summit. I welded it into the collector and extended the wires. I never had a problem. Ive heard the same thing about extending the wires changing it. Ive never seen ANY proof of this causing a problem,ANYWHERE. It would be easier just to keep them in the system than to eliminate them.
