we were going to sell the 84 so we took it out to get some video of it doin its thing. it did so good we changed our mind about selling it. anything we pointed it at it dominated. the first water hole we came to we had no idea how deep it was and wend for it and the front end just disapeared in the water. She stalled and we got a little nervous cause we were by ourselves. i got it started back up and it pulled right out of the hole no problem. thats when we decided there is no way we were going to sell it! In the process it got a little louder! after some inspection i figured out that i broke the connection at the end of the manifold on the drivers side. The question is, is there any way to fix this or should i just take it to a shop. I've never had to do any exhaust work before. i can take a pic of the connection if its needed.

Please do take a picture. Is the broken part on the exhaust manifold side or the exhaust pipe side?

unless you high center these things or have bad tires and open diffs not too much can hold them back:)

I heard a story from my cousin about my 85 and how the doors are slightly dented in. Him and my brother were driving it in deep snow. He said it was up to the hood. He said they kept driving pushing the snow and eventually the snow came around and pushed the doors in! He said once it just wouldnt go any more they put it in reverse and drove right back out!

I took a bunch of pics but i couldnt get the flash and the focus to work quiet right. this is probably the best pic. it looks like the ****** is rusted all the way through so the bolt just pulled through it. not sure how much is involved in fixing it. it seems like everything is to rusted to really just replace that ****** and the bolts. i'm open for suggestions though. oh also this really baffled me. its hard to see it in this pic but there seems to be a lever on the side of the part that comes out of the manifold. you can easily turn it and it sounds like its doing something inside the pipe. any idea what this would be for?

Yeah, kinda looks like a set of headers is in your future...new y-pipe, too.

Hmm, baffles me too. Maybe you can drop the y-pipe and look up into the manifold as you turn the lever.

i tried... one of the bolts is still holding on. i could force it but i dont want to make it any louder than it is already. i looked on the passenger side and this thing isent there. it fits between the manifold and the y pipe. I think i'm going to take it to a shop tomorrow and just get a price to fix it and ask him what that thing is.
