I just replaced the front rotors and pads on my 96 Bronco, I also repacked the wheel bearings. I had to remove the ABS ring, which i pressed back on, that all went smooth. Now when im driving it has a ringing sound, its constant and its really annoying and irritating. When I assembled it all togather with the pads, new rotars, nothing was rubing ont the heat sheild, what else could be causing this? It stops when I stop or down below 15 miles an hour. Could it be the new pads rattling around in the caliper? Its just really got me heated now at the moment any suggestions or help would be really helpful.

Sometimes when you install both new disc pads AND a new rotor, there is not enough clearance if yo uuse any of the pad shims. I've had this problem before, as the shims are meant for a re-surfaced rotor. Just pull off the wheel and turn the hub to see if the pad is or is not touching the rotor. You may have to live with it for a while until the pads wear a little to give you some clearance so they don't sqeak or ring, if you have no shims under them. The other culprit could be a sticking brake caliper. If you think that's the cause, they are cheap to replace.

thanks for the help I think it might be the pads and rotors rubbing. Im going to probably pull em tomarrow and check it all out. I have to replace some striped wheel studs anyhow.

I did the same thing you did last weekend, which turned into a bear of a project.

Anyway, I put everything back together and drove around the block while listening to the worst scraping sound I'd ever heard my truck make. I pulled the wheels and there were flakes of aluminum all over the calipers. The anti-rattle clips on the new pads weren't made right or something, so they scraped against the rims as I was driving.

But Mr. Ball Pein Hammer flattened them out enough to clear the rims :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'd check that, it'll be very obvious when you take off your tires. Just look for a rub mark on the inside of your wheels.
